India’s scientific expedition to the Arctic this year is cancelled while as many as 28 homewards bound scientists, who were part of the country’s 39th scientific expedition to Antarctica are in quarantine in Cape Town, South Africa owing to the lockdown.

Antartica has recorded a high temperature of 2o degree celsius, this is the highest record temperature in history.

Explorer Robert Swan is the first person to walk to both the North and South Poles unassisted. Mongabay caught up with him in Singapore where he was speaking at Temasek’s Ecosperity Week ahead of his next expedition to the Arctic.

Ecological issues are immensely challenging in our world. The rise in global temperatures has led to large scale melting of ice in Antarctica leading to environmental crisis.
