Top Story : Flight Crashed at Kozhikode
The Air India Express flight carrying 190 passenger on board under Vande Bharat Mission from Dubai to Kozhikode crashed on the runway while landing. At least 18 passengers have died and 100 have been injured. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said that the plane fell into a valley and broke into two. Visuals on TV channels showed ambulances rushing to the airport and injured passengers being carried away on stretchers. All passengers are admitted in various Kozhikode hospitals, and 16 passengers are in a serious condition. All passengers are being tested for COVID-19, an official said. Two passengers have reported COVID-19 positive.
Idukki Landslide : The death toll due to the Idukki landslide in Kerala has risen to 18 and 52 people are still missing. The rescue operation was stopped due to bad weather. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has alerted that Wayanad, Thrissur and Palakkad may soon see more heavy rainfall. Kerala CM Vijayan assured financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the victims. He also assured them that the cost of treatment will be borne by the state. Similarly the PM’s National Relief Fund will give 2 lakh to the families of all those who were killed in accident and 50,000 to those who have been injured.
Rajasthan Autorickshaw Driver Assaulted : An auto-rickshaw driver named Gapphar Ahmad Kacchawa who is 52 years old, was brutally assaulted and asked to chant“Modi Zindabad” and “ Jai Sri ram” in Sikar district of Rajasthan by a group of people while he was on duty.Two people have been arrested by the police in this case and an FIR has been lodged.
Bihar Flood: Gopalganj district is severely affected due to the Bihar floods. It is estimated that around 4 lakh people have been affected. More than twelve thousand have been sent to relief camps.
